We have developed a localised handbook which is a key document and resource towards promoting our community resilience in times of natural disaster.

It includes:

Comprehensive details of the GCDM Network

Contacts of disaster management authorities.

Overview of disaster management arrangements.

Communication channels and initiatives.

This information can be used for groups to contact one another to offer and seek support in the case of natural disaster or emergency.

How can you be involved?

Groups and services who wish be involved are asked to nominate two key representatives to be included in the GCDM Network Community and Services Directory.

These local representatives will be an initial point of contact for your group.

What do local representatives do?

Some of the key roles of local disaster management community network (GCDMN) representatives are to:

Be the primary liaison contacts with the GCDM Network.

Represent the organisation/service at GCDM Network meetings held quarterly (optional)

Indicate if, and how your organisation or service can provide assistance in times of natural disaster if called upon by the GCDM Network.

Lead and/or support other leaders within your organisation or service to provide assistance in times of natural disaster.

We also have forms for local organisations or community groups to register their contact details and resources; just let us know and we will email them out to you.

Please be aware that it is not the responsibility of the GCDM Network to mobilise hands on action groups or volunteers in times of natural disaster events or major emergency events. Our role is to provide the Sunshine Coast Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) with a collaborative database of community resources and services only, and share public information.
